When you arrive in Lijiang you’ll be impressed by the heritage listed 800 year-old city whose ancient architecture and culture has been very well preserved. The town is lined with cobblestone lanes and canals of crystal clear waters that stream down from a fresh mountain spring. The scenery in this region is truly superb with alpine rivers and mountains and minority villages with old world charm. Lijiang also has some wonderful shopping opportunities with a vast number of stores brimming with local arts and handicrafts.

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1

On arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel within the old city of Lijiang. You’ll have the remainder of the day to explore around town and admire the pristine beauty whilst shopping at the local specialty stores. No meals have been arranged today so you can eat at your leisure at any one of the many restaurants throughout town.

Day 2

After breakfast you’ll visit the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain where a cable car will transfer you up to Spruce Meadow. Here you’ll have uninterrupted views of the mountaintop glacier and enjoy a relaxing walk through the alpine ecosystem. You’ll also visit Yufeng Temple to admire the 500 year-old camellia tree and Jade Water Village to have a glimpse into the life of the local Naxi minority people. Later you’ll have ample time back in the old city to shop for arts and crafts that are unique to the Yunnan province. (BL)
